Chelsea FC . are keen on landing Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger.

The Blues have been linked with the youngster for a while and Rudigera s representative and half-brother Sahr Senesie claimed that the Premier League champions were in the running for the player along with Wolfsburg

a I know therea s interest from Chelsea and Wolfsburg,a Senesie told Kicker.

Jose Mourinho’s side was recently said to be in the driving seat for the young defender but it seems like they may have to face some stiff competition from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, according to (German source) Bild as well as ESPN.

VfB sporting director Robin Dutt confirmed interest from “interested parties”

“There is a big group of interested parties,” Dutt told Bild. “We have our expectations and we won’t lower them.”

The player is likely to command a fee in the region of a 18m, but if there is regular competition till the end, the fee may naturally go up.

Rudiger has not been involved in team training with Stuttgart in recent days and. While the club says this is because the player is working individually as he returned late from his holidays, it has been reported that it is because of his current situation regarding his future.

The 22 year-old featured in 21 games in all competitions for Stuttgart last season and impressed greatly. He has 6 appearances for the senior Germany side.

The highly rated player boasts a strong stature and stands tall at 6ft 3 inches. He has a towering presence in the field and he is expectedly, very strong in the air and on the ground. His biggest strength though is his pace. He boasts incredible speed, especially for a defender. This enables him to be a ball playing centre back for the side and makes him a bigger asset. Blessed with strength and speed, it is no surprise he is attracting the attention from different clubs.
