Manager Jos Mourinho continued his unwanted record of failing to win a Premier League game at St.James’ Park as his Chelsea FC side came from behind to earn a point in an exciting 2-2 draw on Saturday.

However, with Manchester United winning and going top of the table following Manchester City’s defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, the Blues now lie 8 points off top spot, and centre-back Gary Cahill believes there is now no margin for error.

Chelsea FC have made their worst start to a season since the inception of the Premier League with just 8 points from 7 games, and defender Gary Cahill expressed his disappointment after the Blues were only able to take a point against an out-of-form Newcastle United side.
The England international is quoted by Get West London UK as saying: “Wea ve given up a lot of our lifelines now. We have given up too many opportunities and if wea d have lost this game today, who knows?
“Man City lost, so it was time for us to capitalise. But Newcastle are fighting for their lives and they got their fans onside when they went up, which wasna t great for us.
“We got a point, but we leave disappointed.
“I thought the subs had a massive impact. We were unlikely, as mad as it was, not to come away with three points.
“So we will take a point from that after a bad first half. You cana t start like that. Ita s flipping every time we come to this stadium. We have not had the best of luck here.”
Chelsea FC a poor result away from decisively exciting title race
The only reason Chelsea FC are still in the title race is the fact that the English Premier League season is just seven games old, with 31 more still to be played. An 8-point gap is far from insurmountable in that time, but the form of Mourinho’s men is not particularly encouraging.
The Blues need to string together a run of successive wins in the league, and with some fairly tough fixtures out of the way, now might be a perfect time for it. Manchester United look in solid form at the top of the table, but are about to begin a run of testing fixtures, starting with an away game at the Emirates next weekend.
Manchester City look vulnerable after their blistering start to the season, missing the creative force that is David Silva as well as captain Vincent Kompany, while star striker Sergio AgA?ero struggles to find the back of the net with any regularity.
Chelsea FC need to capitalise with the October fixtures set to get underway, in a month that could either throw them back in the mix or end their title hopes once and for all.
