Barcelona has been under immense scrutiny ever since reports broke out regarding a Lionel Messi-Luis Enrique fall out which was followed by a humiliating loss to Real Sociedad. Lionel Messi also missed another training session in addition to the earlier one and though the official excuse given was that of gastroenteritis, it is widely believed that Messi is far from satisfied playing under Luis Enrique and hence missed the training sessions in protest.
As reported recently, Luis Enrique refused to deny allegations of a fall out while commenting that he did not want to divulge dressing room secrets to the media, further fuelling speculations of a fall-out. Messi was also reported to have followed Chelsea FC on social media, a fact that has linked the Argentine superstar with a big money to London in the coming months.
Marca has now reported that Chelsea FC have got in touch with Lionel Messia s father regarding a possible move to London in the coming summer. The Blues are reportedly willing to match Messia s release clause of a 250 million even though it might affect the club in terms of Financial Fair Play.
Former Barcelona star Luis Suarez has recently revealed that though Messi is a loyal to Barcelona, he could be on his way out due to being dissatisfied at the Catalan club.
a I think Messi is still happy at Barcelona because the club has helped him a lot. They have been very supportive ever since he was a kid.”
“But he might start to have doubts if a stratospheric offer were to come in. And you have to be careful when a player starts to gets doubts. It could be that Messi’s era at Barcelona is nearing an end.a
“Barcelona did not perform as we have come to expect from them last season and people might start having doubts if another season like that happens. Things have been said that would never have been said before. It’s still early, though, and you have to give all this some time.”
Meanwhile Club President Josep Bartomeu held an emergency Press Conference in order to dispel the a negativitya surrounding the club and has declared that Lionel Messi is not for sale. He also announced that the club will conduct early elections in order to resolve the crisis at Camp Nou.
a Leo Messi has a contract here that was recently renewed. We are calm about the situation. I speak with Messi regularly. We don’t go for coffee together but I am in contact with him and from what I see on the pitch he is happy at the club.a
a He is our leader and as I have said before we want to build the team around him. He is playing as well this season as he was last season.a
a I’m sure a lot of clubs would love to have Messi but he is our player.a
The President has called for early elections in order to bring order to the Catalan club which has been the centre of much negative attention lately.
a The principal motive to call elections is to relieve tension that the club is living, a tension that is out of proportion. This noise, this tension that is out of proportion inevitably affects the team, of course. That is why we are calling elections, to reduce this tension.a
It now remains to be seen how this transfer saga plays out in the coming months. Will Barcelona be able to lure Messi into staying back at Camp Nou or will Mourinho sweep the Argentine away with the help of Roman Abramovicha s fat wallet.
