Cesc Fabregas Is NOT The One Who Betrayed Sacked Chelsea FC Boss Jose Mourinho, Says Reports

The Stamford Bridge faithful have not taken manager Jose Mourinho’s sacking very well and have even blamed some of the players for this, with Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, and Cesc Fabregas being named as “snakes” and “rats” in some of the banners during the match against Sunderland.

However, recent reports have suggested that Fabregas was, on the contrary, one of the closest allies that Mourinho has had in the Chelsea FC dressing room. Fabregas and Mourinho have known each other for a long time, right from the days when the Spaniard was a young and upcoming midfielder at Arsenal FC and the Portuguese was one of the brightest young managers taking English football by storm, almost a decade ago.

The duo continued their rivalry down south in the La Liga, where Fabregas rejoined his childhood club FC Barcelona and Mourinho took over the reigns at the Catalan side’s arch rivals Real Madrid. However, the two finally joined hands when Mourinho signed for Chelsea FC again in 2013, going on to sign the Spanish midfielder a year later.

According to Matt Law of the Telegraph, Fabregas has been one of the closest allies of Mourinho over what has arguably been the most difficult period of the Special One’s career. The Spaniard even thanked the ex-Chelsea FC boss for all that Mourinho did for him, in an emotional tweet. Law believes that this tweet was a genuine show of remorse that the former FC Barcelona man was showing.

“Mourinho held talks with Fabregas before his sacking, in which he told the 28-year-old that he was planning to rely heavily on him in the fight to save his job,” wrote Law in the Telegraph. “Mourinho then telephoned Fabregas after his dismissal to thank him for his efforts and wish him all the best.”

“Despite being upset at being left on the substitutesa bench at times this season, Fabregas remained loyal to Mourinho and had hoped the Portuguese would see out the slump in results and remain in his post.”

Mourinho plotting revenge?

While the Portuguese’s representatives have made it clear that the Special One would not be going on a sabbatical, Mourinho himself has indicated time and again that he wants to take the Manchester United job. With Red Devils boss Louis van Gaal under immense pressure due to poor results, Mourinho has largely been tipped to take over at Old Trafford.

In such a case it would be interesting to watch all the reactions from the dugouts when Chelsea FC and Manchester United face each other and the crowd reaction when they lock horns at Stamford Bridge.
