Cech Thanks Abramovic In Farewell Letter To Chelsea FC Fans; No Mention Of Jose Mourinho

Petr Cech thanks Roman Abramovich from “bottom of his heart” but makes no specific mention of Jose Mourinho in an emotional farewell letter to Chelsea FC fans following his move to Arsenal FC.

Petr Cech completed his A?10m transfer across London to Arsenal FC, drawing an end to a glittering 11-year career at Chelsea with an admission that a life doesna t always turn out the way you think it willa .

In the letter that he posted on his offical twitter handle, Cech thanked the Chelsea FC fans and admitted he would have liked to finish his career at the club if not for him losing his first team slot, last season:

I thought this would never happen, but it is time for me to say goodbye to Chelsea Football Club: the club I have lived every single minute for since joining in July, 2014, the club in which I thought Ia d hang my gloves and boots one day and finish my career. But life doesna t always turn out the way you think it will.

It has been an incredible journey with so many highs and not many lows. We have managed to win every single English trophy as well as the Europa League and the biggest of all a the Champions League. Looking back at all the achievements, including our first ever league double in 2010, back to back titles in 2005 and 2006, and multiple Premier League and FA Cup wins, I couldna t be more proud. As a team, we made history together.

Last summer, things changed and I understood I was no longer the first-choice keeper, but I felt it was not the right time for me to go. During the season it became clear that my situation would not improve and, as I know I am not at the stage of my career where I want to be on the bench, I made my decision to move on and look for new challenges.

The player, who was allowed to join a London rival by Russian owner Roman Abramovich despite manager Jose Mourinho opposing the move, thanked the owner by specifically taking his name, but, makes a very generic statement that one would think is merely out of formality, to thank all his managers without mentioning Jose Mourinho, a manager renowned to have very strong emotional bond with his players.

Petr Cech signed a four-year contract worth a basic A?100,000 a week as per the Guardian and is most likely to face his former Chelsea FC team-mates in the Community Shield at Wembley on 2nd August. Arsenal FC are due at Stamford Bridge in mid-September.
