Liverpool are preparing an improved winter bid for Schalke winger Leroy Sane after seeing their A?11million bid rejected by the Miners last summer, according to a report from German media house Bild.
The Germany youth international already has three goals to his name this season despite his manager Andre Breitenreiter handing him only three starts. He has been tipped to achieve greatness in the wake of his stunning goal against Real Madrid on his Champions League debut.
Brendan Rodgers has not been able to recover from the transfer of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, despite bringing in alleged world-class strikers in the likes of Mario Balotelli and Christian Benteke. He has apparently made his mind to prise the untested teenager away from Veltins Arena.
Given the fact that the Northern Irishman hardly minds splashing cash on youngsters with potential, the 19-year-old winger may well be expected to don the famous red shirt in front of the Anfield crowd, but the Scousers will have to fend off any interest from fellow pursuers in Tottenham Hotspur.
However, Schalke are in no pressure to sell their prized asset, having only recently allowed Julian Draxler to join rivals Wolfsburg. In addition, they may decide to keep hold of him till next summer with a view of making more money out of the transfer.
