Speaking ahead of Real Madrida s fixture against Espanyol, manager Rafael Benitez backed Cristiano Ronaldo to end his goal drought while claiming that he was delighted to have Keylor Navas between the posts at Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo has failed to find the back of the net this season which has led to speculation regarding a drop in his form. The Portuguese superstar sped off to a brilliant start last season and eventually won the Pichichi Trophy with 48 goals to his name.

We’re sure he is going to score lots of goals again this season

However, as reported by Marca, Rafa Benitez is not concerned about Ronaldoa s lack of goal-scoring form as he believes that the winger is going to end his dry spell sooner rather than later.

“The player who shoots at goal more than any other player in the league is Cristiano Ronaldo, and what with his quality, and all the work he puts in, we’re sure he is going to score lots of goals again this season”

Keylor is as good as he’s always been

Rafa Benitez also spoke about Keylor Navas who was involved in the disastrous exchange deal with Manchester United that sought to bring David de Gea to Santiago Bernabeu. Poised to leave the club in the closing minutes of the transfer window, the deal finally collapsed as the necessary paperwork couldna t be completed in time in order to process the two transfers.

It was reported that Keylor Navas was disturbed regarding his position at the club as Florentino Perez and Rafa Benitez offered him in an exchange deal for David de Gea.

"Keylor Navas knows I have complete confidence in him. "
“Keylor Navas knows I have complete confidence in him. “

As . reported by Marca, Benitez claimed that the goalkeeper was well aware of the confidence bestowed upon him by the manager following the events that unfolded on the transfer deadline day. Benitez was quick to compliment the player while expressing his delight at having Navas between the posts at Real Madrid.

“Keylor Navas knows I have complete confidence in him. I hope he plays really well and doesn’t need to make many saves. Keylor is as good as he’s always been. I’ve gone through everything with him. He knows how happy I am and he is delighted.”

As Real Madrid visit Espanyol looking for three crucial points, it will be interesting to see if Cristiano Ronaldo and Keylor Navas are able to grab the headlines following Beniteza s words of praise.
