Benitez Admits Keeping Focus Is Paramount, Says He Expects More Consistency From BBC

On the eve of Real Madrid’s Champions League group match against Malmo, Rafael Benitez admitted that his team will not be complacent and will be looking to extend their good run of form. The Spaniard also hinted that although the BBC are exceptional, he expects more consistency from his star players.

Los Blancos are enjoying a hot streak of form with four wins in their last four outings and their confidence will be sky-high as they face the already knocked out side Malmo FF on Tuesday.

Keep your focus

Real Madrid have already qualified to the knockout stage, while Malmo are out of the competition, coming into this game having lost four out of their five games so far. Despite the match being pointless in terms of result, Benitez insists his team will approach this game like any other important tie and will not be complacent.

a We’ve won our last four matches. We made mistakes away to Shakhtar when we were 0-4 up. In the case of Getafe we had control over the game, but it’s not easy maintaining that same level of intensity in the second half because your brain tells you to ease up in the knowledge that there are still plenty more games to come”, Benitez said in the press conference, as reported by the club’s official website.

The main positive was the first-half performance, it was one of our best so far in terms of how we played and the lead we took. We should be looking to repeat that performance as often as we cana .

Expect more from BBC

Bale, Benzema and Ronaldo are the three superstar forwards at the Bernabeu, but the three haven’t been as effective as they are made out to be. Rafa suggests that the BBC – as they are called – are exceptional, but he expects more from them.

a It’s unfair to the other players who have helped the team out so much in attack to only talk about the BBC. We have highly talented players and the BBC are exceptional. Footballers’ form is judged over the course of the season and our players haven’t been able to play together as much as we would have likeda

It is one of those games for Real Madrid where they will be battling against complacency more than the opponent. Benitez has confirmed the 19-man squad which does not include the likes of Ramos, Bale and Modric.

Nevertheless, Madrid will look to hammer the visitors and extend their immaculate run of form.
