Belgian Star To Reject Chelsea FC Over Tottenham Move: Report

Toby Aldewiereld transfer saga has finally come close to conclusion with the player set to chose Tottenham over Chelsea FC as per reports in the Sunday Times.

.

The defender, who spent the season on loan at Southampton put in some assured display and is being sought after by Chelsea FC for sometime now as had been reported earlier, but, Tottenham seem to have won the race with the player confiding to his friends as per the report that he was keen to make a switch to Spurs.

The 26-year-old Atletico Madrid man has been told he will be a first choice in Tottenhama s back four if he chooses them over other Premier League suitors and Alderweireld believes that playing alongside international teammate Jan Vertonghen at Tottenham would cement his place in Belgiuma s team for next summera s European Championships.

According to report in The Times, Southampton have take up their option of their loan agreement to sign Alderweireld, 26, on a permanent deal for about A?7 million, but Atletico will exercise a counter-clause that allows them to cancel the agreement by paying about A?3 million to the south coast side should the Belgian move to another club.

On his potential move, Alderweireld was quoted saying: a There are three options a stay with Atl tico, stay with Southampton or go to another club. Southampton gave me that opportunity and it paid off, I think. Ia ve had a fantastic year, I cana t lie about that, so, yes, Ia d like to stay in the Premier League.a

Chelsea FC were plotting a 14 million offer first, and then a part exchange deal involving Filipe Luis who is keen on a return to Atletico Madrid following a season where the Brazil international struggled to displace Cesar Azplicueta from the starting XI.

Chelsea FC are reportedly pursuing a deal for Augsburg leftback Baba Rahman as his replacement.

It does look likely that the Atletico Madrid man will reject Chelsea FC for a move to Tottenham. With Verthongen in there, the London side’s central defense will look a lot more assured with the addition of Toby Alderweireld than it has in recent times.
