Bayern Munich’s second choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina is all set to join Italian Serie A side Napoli this summer. According to reports, the Spanish custodian will undergo a medical in Rome on Tuesday.
Pepe Reina had earlier played for Napoli in the 2013/14 season after he moved to the club on loan from Liverpool. After spending a year in the Italian side, he moved to Germany to join Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in a permanent deal. Unfortunately, his stint with the German side was not a success and now he apparently he has planned to move back to his old club. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the news saying, “On Tuesday I will meet Pepe Reina in Rome for a medical.”
The Spaniard, since joining Bayern Munich last season, had played just 3 games for the club in the league. He always under the shadows of the towering Manuel Neuer. Pepe Reina himself clarified that in search ofregular game time he his heading towards Napoli. Reina was quoted: “It has been a difficult year,” Reina said to the Italian press. “More so than I thought it would be.
“I really expected to play more. In any case I’ve learned a lot from [Bayern Munich coach Pep] Guardiola and Neuer.

“I have a contract with Bayern but I want to play more next season. Naples is a wonderful place to live because it’s very similar to the south of Spain. I was very happy there.”
In his previous stint with Napoli, Pepe Reina played 30 Serie A games for the club and managed to maintain 10 clean sheets. His performance was extremely impressive and Reina would definitely look forward to go back to his glory days at the club.
