It was a matter of concern at Bayern Munich as the doctor left the position after serving the club for almost 40 years. Hans-Wilhelm had quit Bayern in 2008-09 after reportedly having issues with the then manager Jurgen Klinsmann. He later returned to the club after the German manager left.

The Doctor has experience of working with Usain Bolt, Boris Becker and the German national football team.
