Bayer Leverkusen Striker Javier Hernandez Says He Had ‘Only 1% Chance Of Playing’ At Manchester United Under Louis Van Gaal

Manchester United have been visibly struggling up front, and their former striker Javier Hernandez has a thing or two to say about the boss who ousted him from the Theater of Dreams, saying that the Mexican was not in his plans.

Hernandez, who is more fondly known as Chicharito, was transferred to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen earlier this summer and has struck sublime form, scoring 15 goals from his last 12 games. In retrospect, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could probably have done with some of those goals, as all the players in his side have managed to score a combined total 10 goals from the last 12 matches.

a Van Gaal told me he already had his strikers, that I would have to fight for a place but could take an offer if an opportunity arrives,a Hernandez was quoted saying in the Daily Mirror. a “The board told me I could go on loan to Real Madrid and it was not a difficult decision for me. Then I returned to Manchester.

a I started to have opportunities but one day I spoke with Van Gaal and I had only a one per cent chance of playing, so I needed to make magic.”

However, the Mexican sharp shooter has been on fire since his move to the continent, and that seems to have boosted his confidence quite a lot as well.

.

a I moved to Bayer, I have been confident since the first day and I feel more important here, not only for the goals but in all the games I watch I see myself in the line-up,” said Hernandez.

Hernandez ‘grateful’ to Ferguson for opportunity

The one man who brought him from the wild west of Mexico, to the limelight of European football is former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson and Hernandez believes that the Scotsman is the best manager in the world.

a I am totally grateful to Ferguson. I think he is the best manager in history for how he managed the squad.,” he said. a He had a place for everyone. Even a player who was not under consideration ended the season with 15 games. It was one of the best experiences of my life. He opened the door to Europe for me and I won two leagues.a
