Proving his doubters wrong

Former Barcelona forward, David Villa, has backed his former side to win the El Clasico on Sunday.

David Villa, who played for Barcelona from 2010 to 2013, has tipped Barcelona to be the favourite side on Sunday when they face Real Madrid at home. However, Villa also suggested that anything can happen and anyone can win when the two Spanish giants go head-to-head.

a I see Barcelona well above Real Madrid at this moment. Their last few games have been spectacular, while Real Madrida s have cost them going forward,a Villa told Onda Cero radio.

a Months ago it was the other way around, thata s why these teams are so great.a

Villa, currently captaining MLS side New York City claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid are a the two best teams in the world,a but a right now Barcelona are a little bit aheada .

The Spaniard stressed on the importance of the tie between the two teams and insisted that the game paralyses the world.

a I dona t know if it is the most beautiful game, but it is the most important that you can play. It paralyses the world.a

Spaina s all-time scorer remembered his Clasico debut in which his side beat Jose Mourinhoa s Real Madrid 5-0 in November 2010 in which he scored twice.

a The 5-0 was the most complete game in which I have played, something that is difficult to repeat.a

The former Valencia star confirmed that he will be watching the game from New York cheering hard for Barcelona.

a I will watch it from here, cheering as hard as I can for Barcelona to win.a

David Villa has spoken the truth when he says that Barcelona are looking the better side at the moment. Real Madrid had a great first half of the season while Barcelona suffered a few setbacks. However, now the tables have turned and Real Madrid have slipped into a slump which may see the title slip from their hands.

Sundaya s game will be highly important for both sides as a win will make either of the teams the undoubted favourites to be named Spanish champions at the end of the season. Real Madrid are going through a difficult phase since the start of the year and have lost the top spot in La Liga to Barcelona. Meanwhile, Barcelona have done a great job to get their season back on track and have caught up with Real Madrid and are leading the title race by a point.
