Barcelona sporting director, Ariedo Braida, admitted that he has discussed a potential move for Paul Pogba with Juventus general director, Giuseppe Marotta.
Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba, has been garnering a lot of attention as it seems like the Frenchman will be making a big-money move to a top European club this summer. Clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Barcelona are very keen on signing the youngster.
However, it seems like Barcelona are leading the race to acquire Pogbaa s signature. The cluba s sporting director, Ariedo Braida, confirmed that Barcelona are interested in signing the France international and have also held talks regarding a move with Juventus.
“We like Pogba, we like him a lot. But that’s needless to say. All the big clubs like a champion such as Pogba,” Braida told Tuttosport.
“Marotta is a friend of mine and we talk about a lot of things. We have also discussed Pogba.
“He is still young, but already shows things of the highest level. It would be a hugely important operation for Barcelona, a very interesting one.a
Barcelona will have to fend off some stiff competition if they wish to sign Pogba. The biggest barrier for the Catalans will be the transfer ban that forbids them from signing any player this summer. If they wish to sign the 22-year old, Barcelona must convince Pogba to wait till January 2016 to make a move. However, Barcelona can agree terms with the midfielder and the club in the summer and sign him in the January transfer window.
“Our situation is complicated, though. We can not register any new players until 2016 because of the Fifa sanction.
“It could be an option to agree terms for a transfer in 2016. That’s one of the potential options.
“It also depends on what Luis Enrique and what the board at Barcelona want. I am waiting for the green light from the club. Until then, I am working on it and sowing the seeds.”
A move in the summer is highly likely for Pogba and with various clubs interested in his signature, the Frenchman will have no difficulties in choosing his next destination. The ball is in Pogbaa s court now and he has the option to choose from variety of top European clubs.
