Ashley Cole’s Future Remains Uncertain As LA Galaxy and Crystal Palace Reveal Interest

An LA Galaxy official suggested that they were close to signing AS Roma defender Ashley Cole in January. However, talks have not gone forward since then, and where the former Chelsea FC defender will be playing remains uncertain.

Cole has made several appearances for Roma this season, but with the transfer window coming up, Cole’s future at the Serie A club is doubtful.

Cole to LA Galaxy?

A formal announcement regarding the arrival of Ashley Cole to LA Galaxy is still to be revealed. Galaxy coach and general manager Bruce Arena opened up about his plans for the January transfer window evoking speculations.

“I would anticipate that we’ll add three or four players to our roster,” Arena said, as reported by skysports.

“There are a lot of factors on why players come to our team as opposed to others. The Galaxy have a good reputation. Our players from Europe that have played here or are playing here are good spokespersons for our club.”

Future doubtful

.

Cole is reported to be enjoying his lifestyle in Rome and a source said that LA was just among the “two or three options” for Cole. For example, Crystal Palace have shown keen interest in the former England International, but a move back to England looks unlikely for the 35-year-old.

A move to LA Galaxy would mean reuniting with former England teammate and Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, and Cole’s arrival in the United States will add to the many high-profile signings in recent years.
