AS Roma In Talks With Manchester City For Number 1 Target Edin Dzeko

Manchester City could be parting ways with Edin Dzeko this summer as AS Roma formalize their interest with an offer.

The Guardian report that the Italian side is interested in the Bosnian international and has made an offer for the player.

They report: Roma are in discussions with Manchester City to buy Edin Dzeko for a 20m (A?14.1m), with the striker offered a five-year contract worth a 4.5m a season. The Roma sporting director, Walter Sabatini, has made Dzeko, his No1 target up front.

Miralem Pjanic recently said that Dzeko could come running to Roma if given a chance.

Pjanic told Roma News: “Dzeko would come running to Roma, and his salary would not be a problem because he’d adapt. But now it’s all up to the club.”

Dzeko signed a new deal with City just last year but despite that, he could be on his way out due to the fact that he has constantly been a second option which isn’t surprising since City have Sergio Aguero at the club.

The Bosnian joined City from Wolfsburg in 2011 when Roberto Mancini was in charge and has won two Premier League titles with the side, but the striker naturally wishes to go to a place where he can get more game time. Only 29, he has plenty of football left in him.

Dzeko is a prolific striker and it is a shame that he has to compete with Aguero for a starting berth. At most clubs, he could be the preferred option.

. Sevilla were also reported to be keen on the player as a Carlos Bacca replacement, but it seems that Roma lead the race for the player. Roma are looking to revamp their forward line in a bid to fight for the title next season. They will offload Mattia Destro and Seydou Doumbia in this window.

Anderlechta s Aleksandar Mitrovic is believed to be the back-up option if they cannot land Dzeko.
