Arsenal To Make Petr Cech Highest-Paid Goalkeeper In Club History

Arsenal are in desperately in need of a top goalkeeper, and are ready to break the bank, in order to land Chelsea custodian Petr Cech.

With Gunners keeper David Ospina being close to a move to Turkish club Fenerbache, Wojciech Szczesny is the only top goalkeeper on their roster.

The Arsenal-Cech saga has been going on for quite some time now, in spite of Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho being reluctant to sell the Czech international to a Premier League rival.

However, Arsenal, who are trying to eliminate their defensive blues, are reportedly trying really hard to bring Cech across town, to the Emirates.

They are even ready to offer him a A?100,000-a-week contract, making him one of the few Gunners players, to be paid six-figure wages, at the club, according to the . Daily Telegraph. In fact, these wages would make Cech the highest-paid goalkeeper in Arsenala s history.

Reigning Ligue 1 champions PSG are also said to be in the race for the 33-year-old keeper, and have reportedly ready to offer him a A?150,000-a-week contract. However, the Czech international wants to stay in London, where his family now resides, and play in the Premier League.

Cech, who has a commanding presence in the penalty box, and has been a key part of some of one of the most resilient defences at Chelsea, has plied his trade at Stamford Bridge for over a decade, now, winning four Premier League and FA Cup titles, three League Cups, and a Champions League, during his tenure at the Bridge.

However, he has fallen down the pecking order to Belgian Thibaut Courtois, who has replaced him as the Chelsea No. 1, I the 2014/15 season. Although Jose Mourinho is reportedly unwilling to let Cech go to another Premier League club Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, is reportedly going to respect the goalkeepera s wishes, keeping in mind, the lengthy service, he has given to the club.

With these wages, Cech would join the likes of Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott, and Olivier Giroud, who earn six-figure wages at the Emirates. Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere also earn close to the 100,000 mark, and with the former being in contract talks, the Gunners might see another of their players joining this elite list.
