Arsenal target Jackson Martinez has decided to opt for . AC Milan amidst interest from Arsene Wenger as FC Porto bid goodbye to the striker after his release clause was activated.

FC Portoa s President has confirmed that the Colombian striker has decided to sign for AC Milan after the Italian side agreed to activate his release clause. Martinez has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal this summer but it seems that the striker has opted for the Italian side over Arsene Wenger. FC Portoa s President also said that the playera s a 35 million release clause was activated by AC Milan hence the club do not have a say in the transfer.

a Jackson Martinez has chosen Milan. Before going on holiday Jackson announced he wanted to leave. The a 35m clause is not up for debate and must be paid. I learned just now that Jackson has chosen Milan. This is what he wants, the destination is irrelevant as far as I am concerned. I want him to be happy.a

With Martinez opting for AC Milan, it will be interesting to see how Arsenal react to the situation as they continue to look in the market for an effective goal-scorer. Speaking about Martinez earlier, Wenger commented that the player had all the qualities to shine in the English Premier League.

a He has top physical strengths. Hugely efficient, he is the kind of player who can make room for himself in the box.a

a He could play in the Premier League because he has the body to make the difference.a
