Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger has given updates about the team ahead of tonight’s crunch clash against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. The Gunners are without a win in the Champions League this season and any hopes of progressing to the knockouts rest on this game.
Petr Cech is set to make his Champions League debut for Arsenal FC with cup-keeper David Ospina out with a shoulder injury, Brazilian defender Gabriel also returns to the squad.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, as quoted by the club’s official website, Wenger said:
“We have Gabriel back available, he is the only player back available. Everybody has recovered from our game on Saturday so it is nearly the same squad.
“Ospina is out injured. He came back from Colombia with a shoulder problem and he is out.”

You would be surprised if I told you that I would rest Ozil and Sanchez – Wenger
Following the win over Watford, Wenger had hinted that superstars Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez might be rested for the must-win game. However, the Frenchman has now quashed those rumours.
“No. You would be surprised if I told you that I would rest them [Ozil and Alexis] tomorrow, so I can tell you certainly not. Normally they should play tomorrow.”
The Gunners have made it past the group stages of the Champions League in each of their last 15 seasons, but some horrific showing in the first two games has cast serious doubts over them progressing. The Gunners need to win at-least three of the remaining four matches of the group stages – two out of which are against Bayern Munich.
Alexis Sanchez has been unstoppable in recent weeks, scoring 10 goals in his last six games and the Chilean would be required to be at his best if Arsenal FC hope of overcoming Pep Guardiola’s unbeaten side.
