Arsenal FC: Serge Gnabry Says Happy To Be On Pitch After Long Injury Layoff

Arsenala s Serge Gnabry is relieved to be returning from the injury layoff and is happy to get back on the pitch.

Gnabry said, a I am feeling good, Ia m feeling better and better. It is my second 90 minutes [in the space of a week], I am playing and over my injury so it is all good and I am looking forward to the next game.

a It is always nice to play here, there was also a decent crowd so I was very pleased to be at the stadium again.a

He has work cut out if he wants to break back into the Arsenal first team, with a lot of competition in the side currently. The wide position that he usually plays in is filled with options like Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and all of them are certainly above him in the pecking order.

However, the silver lining that he may find in this admittedly gloomy cloud is the contract situation of Walcott. Arsenal and Walcott always seem to have a problem with finalizing a contract, with the last one going down to the wire before it was done. This time though, Arsenal and Arsene wona t be so patient and kowtow to his demands, as they have a lot more options in the team than before.

Serge Gnabry, however, would need to show Arsene that he is right person to fall back on the wing positions and not buy in the summer if he wants to nail that position for himself. Whether he convinces Arsene for the same is something to watch out for in the pre-season.
