Arsenal FC legend Ian Wright has urged Chelsea FC to sell Spain international Diego Costa, who appears a shadow of the lethal striker he was at the beginning of the 2014-2015 season
Like most Chelsea FC players, striker Diego Costa has been out of form this season, scoring just twice in the league in the opening 12 games. The Brazil-born Spain international was also suspended for three games by the Football Association of England for his off-the-ball altercation with Arsenal FC defender Laurent Koscielny in September.
Legendary Gunners’ striker Ian Wright has urged the Blues to sell Diego Costa, claiming that he is the ‘last centre-forward’ Jos Mourinho’s team needs in the situation that the incumbent champions find themselves in.

The former Arsenal FC striker has claimed that Chelsea FC should take drastic measures to replace Diego Costa, suggesting that the Blues should sell him at the first opportunity they get. Wright is quoted by Standard Sport as saying:
“I would sell him at the first opportunity I get because, as brilliant as he was in the first season, he is playing differently.
“He seems a little bit more antagonising. The first season he got here he was focusing on scoring goals, being in the box. Now he’s outside the box, he’s getting involved with people.
“I believe at this moment now, he’s the last centre forward you need. You need a centre forward who’s going to get on with it, stretch teams and cause teams problems in the right way.”
Strikers’ woes an issue for Chelsea FC
Although Ian Wright’s suggestion is a little extreme and unrealistic, the Blues do genuinely have an issue as far as their striking options are concerned. The volatile Diego Costa has been completely off colour and even unfit (by his own admission) this season, while Frenchman LoA?c R my has also not impressed, perhaps due to the fact that he has been unable to hold down a place in the side.
Meanwhile, Colombian Radamel Falcao has not been able to see significant game time, and has done nothing in his time on the pitch to warrant it. Mourinho does genuinely have a problem in terms of his strikers — particularly in light of Falcao’s latest injury which is expected to keep him out for weeks — meaning that the Stamford Bridge outfit could be quite active in the January transfer window.
