Arsenal FC director Lord Harris has confirmed that Arsene Wenger has the cash in place to sign anyone, hinting he could break the club’s transfer record to bring in a striker with the fans dreaming of Karim Benzema signature.
The Arsenal Director told the Daily Mail that the club are now in much stronger financial position from building the Emirates Stadium and Wenger has the funds to make a big splash in the transfer market if the manager wishes to do so.
“Money was tight when we moved to the Emirates but it’s a lot freer now,” he said.
“We could go into the market and probably buy any player in the world, apart from half a dozen who are unbuyable. In the accounts, there’s over A?200 million in the bank. You could say to Arsene we’ve got no money and he wouldn’t worry, or you could give him A?100 million and he might not spend it.”
He added: “We would back him to break the club’s transfer record. If he wanted the man, he could have him. Apart from Messi and Ronaldo, he could have any player.“
Arsenal FC fans have already started dreaming of the likes of Benzema dressed in Red of the London side following the revelation with some, clearly, are quite frustrated wondering why the club have not splashed the cash.
So Arsenal have A?200m in the bank. Wenger might aswell fly out to Madrid and throw a bag of money in Benzema’s face.
