Morgan Schneiderlin has hinted to stay at Southampton till the end of the season despite attracting interest from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be preparing a January bid for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The French midfielder had expressed his desire to play at a club bigger than Southampton with Champions League football in his mind. His comments fuelled rumours aplenty about him making a January move to Arsenal, who are in the market for a solid defensive midfielder, and Tottenham Hotspur, with former Southampton manager Pochettino believed to be interested in the Frenchman.

Schneiderlin has refused to sign a new Southampton contract which further increased the possibility of the midfielder leaving the club in January. However, Schneiderlin has now hinted that he is not looking to move in the January window and he will think about his future at the end of the season.

In an interview with Telefoot, the midfield said: a Ita s always difficult to leave in January.

a I think Ia ll finish the season at Southampton and wea ll see what will happen next. I dona t set my mind on these things anymore.a

Morgan Schneiderlin has been an important player for Southampton this season. The 25-year old has been a commanding force in the midfield with 89.1% successful passes in 15 league appearance. The midfielder has also scored 3 goals in same number of matches for the Saints and according to whoscored.com, he averages 3.5 tackles and 2.1 interceptions per game. The stats prove the players abilities as a defensive midfielder.

Arsenal have been struggling with various injury woes and Arsene Wenger desperately need a solid defensive midfielder and a centre-back. Morgan Schneiderlin may be the solution to Wengera s problems as the midfielder will definitely provide the control Arsenal need in the middle of the park. However, it now seems like Wenger will have to wait till the summer transfer window to acquire the services of Schneiderlin.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino had unsuccessfully tried to sign Schneiderlin in the summer. Formerly a Southampton manager, Pochettino might be able to convince Schneiderlin to sign for the Spurs in the summer window.

Schneiderlina s intention of ending the season at Southampton comes as a big blow for Arsenal and Tottenham as the Frenchman is surely a promising talent. With Schneiderlin not planning to make a January move, Wenger and Pochettino will have to keep on looking elsewhere to fulfil their requirement in this transfer window.
