Juventus will rely on Andrea Pirlo's distribution

Juventus playmaker Andrea Pirlo is on his way to MLS Side New York City FC, according to Sky Italia.

As reported by us five days ago, Andrea Pirlo is poised to join New York City FC from Juventus with Sky Italia confirming the news.

Speculation had been rife that Pirlo would leave Turin after Juve won the Italian league title for the fourth season in a row for a while now. It gained momentum when Pirlo cried after the final whistle of Juventus’ 3-1 Champions League final defeat to FC Barcelona.

Although the player himself insisted it was because he was upset at the result, it had been suggested it may be due to his imminent departure from Juventus with Sky Italia now confirming the move.

“We believe Andrea Pirlo is about to sign with New York City FC, it is really just a matter of days,a said Sky Italiaa s Valentina Fass.

a When he was crying at the end of the match, one of our reporters asked, a why were you crying, because ita s the end of your time at Juventusa He said it was because they had lost the final.”

a When you lose a game you feel like crying but we believe he is about to sign for New York City, although Sydney also appear to be interested in him. Alesandro Del Piero was playing there until recently.a

Liverpool FC have been linked with a move for the Italian legend following the departure of talisman Steven Gerrard. But it now seems any move for the iconic playmaker is dead with the player choosing to move to MLS rather than to Liverpool FC.

Should Liverpool FC have acquired him, Pirlo would have come at a cut price deal with just a year to run to his contract at Juventus.

It now looks more and more likely that he will join Liverpool FC captain Steven Gerrard in the MLS.
