Arsenal FC beat Chelsea FC in the Community Shield at Wembley courtesy of an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain special, ending Jose Mourinho’s 13-match unbeaten run against Arsene Wenger.

Arsene Wenger finally ended Jose Mourinho’s 13 match unbeaten streak against the Gunners, as the Gunners held on to a 1-0 lead, after Oxlade-Chamberlain put them ahead in the 24th minute. The win also meant that the Gunners enjoyed a 100% success rate in the pre-season ahead of next week’s season opener against West Ham United.

Chamberlain with a special strike to win 14th Community Shield for Arsenal FC

Chamberlain cut inside on the right hand side beating full-back Cesar Azpilicueta and released a tracer-bullet of a strike from his left foot into the top corner, beating Thibaut Courtois. The game also marked the competitive debut of former Chelsea FC goalkeeper Petr Cech for the Gunners, and the 33-year-old pulled off a couple of fine saves to help the Gunners hang on to their 1-0 lead.

Oscar and Kurt Zouma were denied by the Czech international, while Eden Hazard fired over and Ramires squandered a free header. Theo Walcott, Aaron Ramsey, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazorla all came close to double the Gunners lead, but, failed to capitalize on their chances.

Arsenal FC won their 14th Community Shield and close their gap on leaders Manchester United who have won it 16 times. The victory would give Arsenal FC a massive boost of confidence as they look to mount a serious title challenge this season.
