Barcelona have confirmed in an . official statement that the Spanish International has agreed to put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the Catalan Giants till 2020 as Dani Alves moves closer to a Manchester United move.

The 26 year old is widely considered as one of the best left backs in the world and will now have a release clause of 150 million Euros. Alba joined Barcelona as a 22 year old from Valencia in a A?11.2m move and has since then go onto win two La Liga titles along with one Copa del Rey and will be hoping to beat Juventus in the final on Saturday to win his first Champion’s League crown.

Alba is a product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy but was released from the club in 2005. The news ahead of the Champion’s League final will please everyone connected with the club as they continue the policy of promoting home grown talent. Alba is expected to start for Barcelona in the final and the club’s fans will be hoping that Alba can celebrate the new contract by bringing home a fifth Champion’s League crown, the third in six years for the Catalan Giants.

With one fullback tied for his best years, Barcelona will be letting go another in Dani Alves at the end of his contract in the summer. Manchester United are in the pole position to land the Brazilian who is also being coveted by PSG as well as per reports in England.

Van Gaal has made signing a right-back one of his priorities and despite Alvesa s age, the lack of a transfer fee makes the defender an attractive proposition.
