Liverpool FC forward Mario Balotelli has passed his medical ahead of a loan move to AC Milan.

Liverpool FC signed Mario Balotelli last season in a 16m GBP move that was described by manager Brendan Rodgers as a ‘calculated gamble’.

Following his first season, it is clear to see that the gamble has not paid off.

Balotelli has played in only a handful of games for Liverpool FC, looking like a fish out of water in the style of play at Anfield which required constant pressing and movement from forwards. Balotelli did not have such a style of play, and it wasn’t too surprising when he failed to adapt to it.

The result was that the former Manchester City man scored only one goal in the league last season as Liverpool stumbled to a sixth place finish with Daniel Sturridge missing a majority of the season due to injury.

Balotelli set to sign for Milan

As per reports in BBC, Mario Balotelli has returned to AC Milan on loan after having passed the medical and having agreed personal terms that sees Liverpool FC pay a part of his wages and AC Milan the other. Balotelli has also taken a pay cut to seal the deal.

The report says:

Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli has completed a medical at AC Milan before returning to the Italian club on a one-season loan deal.

Balotelli is taking a pay cut to move back to Milan, with Liverpool also paying some of his wages.

The Italy striker could make his second debut for the Rossoneri against Serie A rivals Empoli on Saturday.

Commenting on his move, Balotelli was quoted saying by BBC:

“I always had Milan in my heart and always had hope that I would return one day,” the 25-year-old said.

“Will I end my career here? I just have to start to work and have a good year. I’m looking forward to training and proving my worth. I have a lot of motivation but I just have to work and not speak.”

The move back to Milan will have come as a big relief to Balotelli as he was frozen out of the first team at Liverpool FC,and the player will be look to get his career back on track ahead of Euro 2016 in the summer.
