Chelsea FC are strong title favorites and can strengthen their ambitions if they add a top striker within their ranks
Juan Mata is almost a Manchester United and this would have been a big blow to any top side, but with the amount of quality players the club has, the Spaniard’s departure would not make much of a difference to Jose Mourinho’s side.Ai??The club also wants to sell Michael Essien and it is reported that the Blues are willing to even offer the player a pay off to convince him to move to AC Milan.Ai??Essien is out of favour at Stamford Bridge and his departure will make no difference to the club’s ambitions.
Chelsea have made two main signings in this window. Acquiring ex player Nemanja Matic from Benfica was a smart move by the club. The Blues now have someone who can compliment Ramires in the defensive/holding midfielder role. Matic will bring tackling ability to the heart of the Blues midfield. Chelsea are strong in all aspects and have a wonderful squad, probably the best along with Manchester Cityai??i??s. But Mourinhoai??i??s team lacks in one major department- the strike force.
If the club wants to get the league title, they need to attain a quality striker. Fernando Torres is not as bad as he may have been when he just signed for the Blues, but he is still not the lethal player he was at Liverpool. Samuel Etoai??i??o is now past his prime but gives immense quality to the strength of the squad. His hat-trick heroics against Manchester United showed his class, but depending on the ex-Barcelona player to give such performances week-in would be a mistake. Having such an industrious midfield is a bonus. However, it is not correct to have to rely on the services of the attacking midfielders (which the club has in plenty) to get all the goals.
Jose Mourinho has been successful in hijacking Liverpool’s pursuit of Mohamed Salah and Basel have accepted Chelsea’s bid for the player. The Egyptian would be a massive addition to the Blues as the attacker has the ability to play anywhere along the front line. However, the addition of the player is more so a bonus, than anything else as he offers the same things as Oscar, Hazard and Willian? At least in the near future, this addition seems a little unnecessary.
There are strong rumors surrounding the club with Radamel Falcao from AS Monaco, Ai??However, with latest injury ruling him out for the rest of the season and the World Cup, his addition would not benefit Chelsea at the moment. There have also been suggestions of the Premier League club pursuing FC Porto’s Jackson MartinezAi??and while that may be a long shot,with Porto wanting their main man in Portugal and Arsenal also being interested in the deal, perhaps it wouldnai??i??t be the worst idea for the management to invest completely in that deal and get the player to Stamford Bridge.
