Chelsea FC put 10-man Arsenal FC to the sword as The Gunnersai??i?? title hopes comes to an embarrassing end.
The game was supposed to be a celebration of Arsene Wengerai??i??s monumental achievement of taking charge of Arsenal for the 1000th time in this career, but after the end of ninety minutes, the match posed more questions about his future rather than glorifying his past. This loss means they are now seven points behind Chelsea with a game in hand, and has virtually ended their slim chances of winning the league this season. Chelsea meanwhile, have sent out a strong message to their other rivals as they are picking up through to the gears in the business end of the season.
The home side got off to a dream start as they scored two goals in the opening seven minutes of the match with Samuel Etoai??i??o, who was later substituted with an injury, and Andre Schurrle getting on the score sheet. Things went from bad to worse for Arsenal after that as they conceded a penalty with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain producing a diving save, with his hands, on the line. Strangely though referee Andre Marriner sent off Kieran Gibbs, which was later established as a case of ai???mistaken identityai???. Either way, Eden Hazard stepped up and converted the resultant spot-kick to knock the stuffing out of the Gunners. At this point the match was virtually down to how many the Blues can manage before the end of the game.
Oscar made it 4-0 just before half time after Fernando Torres, who replaced Samuel Etoai??i??o in the first half, set up with a low cross into the box. Arsene Wenger went into damage limitation mode after that goal as he brought on Mathieu Flamini and Carl Jenkinson at the start of the second half. But it had little effect on Chelsea as Oscar completed his brace in the 66th minute with a shot from outside the box, which in all fairness Wojciech Szczesny should have saved.
Jose Mourinho then brought on his winter signing Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian international scored his first Premier League goal and put the icing on the cake. The former Basel winger was sent through on goal by a lovely ball over the top by Nemanja Matic and Salah made no mistake in finishing it past the goalkeeper. That rounded up the humiliation that Chelsea handed over to Arsenal at Stamford Bridge last night.

The only concern for Chelsea after this game was the injury of Samuel Etoai??i??o, who could now face a long period on the treatment table due to a hamstring injury.
