Arsenal FC manager Arsene Wenger feels that it is too early to compare Danny Welbeck with club legend Thierry Henry.
Wenger however feels that Welbeck does have a lot of potential and is confident that he will prosper as a striker with more starts.
Arsene Wenger has a wonderful record of transforming wingers/wide forwards to goal scoring strikers and many feel that he could achieve same with Danny Welbeck. The England international was mostly used as a wide player during his time at Manchester United, but Wenger insisted that with regular playing time, Welbeck will gain confidence and ability to finish a move consistently.

“Look, give me some time, it is a bit early to say that when you look at the number of goals Thierry Henry scored.
“I think Danny has an interesting potential and let’s see how he develops. He has a good mentality, good physical potential, technical potential and he contributes to our team play because he doesn’t lose the ball and those are important qualities. Wenger believes that Welbeck will need a bit of time to regain the goal scoring instinct required of a striker, which he has lost a bit after being played out wide at Manchester United.
“He has played wide at Manchester United, never through the middle.
“You lose a little bit of that instinct to score and also that pressure, which is a bit animalistic.
“You need to be in the middle and wait for your chance to kill the opponent. On the flank you have less of that responsibility.
“It’s not a question of potential, it is more a nervous problem because in training he scores goals like a real striker.
