Former LiverpoolFC defender Jamie Carragher has revealed that Liverpool talisman Steven Gerrard needs to be managed more effectively as his age coupled with a busy schedule will mean that he will not be able to start every game.
Carragher said, ai???Thereai??i??s going to be times when Gerrard has to come off the bench.
ai???It was 0-0 when he came on and he wasnai??i??t involved in the goal but he can make an impact from the bench. The manager canai??i??t expect a player of that age, no matter his quality or what heai??i??s done before, to play 90 minutes every single week, three times a week.

Gerrard did not start the last game against Stoke City despite it being a milestone day- the 16th anniversary of his debut which came way back in 1998. He did however play 15 minutes of the game after coming on for Lucas in the 75th minute. Liverpool huffed and puffed for 84 minutes before finding the back of the net courtesy of a brave Glen Johnson header but will consider themselves lucky as Stoke had their fair share of chances.
Carragher also revealed that having played in the World Cup, Gerrard was eventually going to be rested, ai???Before yesterday he played more minutes than any outfield player for Liverpool. For a 34-year-old on the back of a World Cup itai??i??s probably not right, so at some stage he was going to come out the team.

Liverpool have struggled, Gerrard hasn’t
Despite his age, Gerrard’s impact on the team as been the same. However, as the end products have not been there, his impact isn’t visible to most of the fans. The likes of Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli haven’t scored enough goals this season and have been poor with their movement, especially the latter, which has made the players behind them look bad.
After making 13 appearances so far, Gerrard has created more chances, made more number of key passes and has a better pass completion ratio at the moment compared to his last season. With the presence of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge last season, the reds had a good striking partnership who made the good work behind them count, this season the story has been completely different.
