Manchester United have apparently beaten Chelsea for the signature of Southampton left back Luke Shaw after a hefty fee was agreed upon by both parties
Manchester United have agreed on spending A?27 million for the purchase of Southampton left back Luke Shaw and are close to getting the player with only personal terms left to be agreed upon, claim reports.
Luke Shaw has had a stellar season and has seen his name emerge repeatedly in reports linking him with several top clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid Liverpool and Chelsea. Chelsea, in fact, were also very heavily linked with the 18 year old and were also in negotiations to bring in the player.
The Surrey born left-back is a product of the famous Southampton youth academy and was in the Saints’ first-team by the age of 18.Ai??Shaw has appeared in 39 games for Southampton this season in all competitions and has played a lively role at the left back spot demonstrating what a full back should be like. The youngster is strong defensively, but very lively moving upwards. He links up well with the attack and can dominate the left flank with confidence.
Shaw was named in the PFA Team of the Year and was also nominated for the 2014 PFA Young Player of the Year award, where he came third behind Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge.

Ai??Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra is out of contract this summer and could have already played his last game for the club on Sunday, incidentally against Southampton.Ai??According to the Telegraph, Inter Milan have already finalised a deal for Evra, who would join departing Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic at the Serie A side.
Manchester United, who suffered from a mediocre campaign to see the least, have acted swiftly to reportedly seal the deal for the 18 year old. It is understood that the only thing remaining is an agreement upon personal terms which are only ‘a formality’. It is also reported that Shaw is set to treble his wages to A?75,000-a-week in a five year deal.
Ai??Manchester United have refused to comment on the reports but Southampton chairman Ralph Krueger said he expected interest in a number of Saints players.
“The reason people look at our players is because the club does an excellent job developing them,” he said.
