Oinam Bembem Devi led the Indian Women’s National Team , to their third SAFF Women’s Championship Title in Pakistan .The Indian Team finished the tournament with 5 wins , scoring 36 goals in the process and letting in 1.The Indian Team had won the previous 2 editions of the tournament.
The Indian National team took on Maldives in their first match and they thrashed Maldives 8-0 ,with Ngangom Bala Devi scoring 4 times (24′, 46′, 72′, 74′) . Also on the score sheet were Yumnam Kamala Devi(64′, 85′) ,Oinam Bembem Devi (76′) and Jyoti Ann Burrett (90).
In their second group stage encounter the Indian National Team took on their neighbours Bangladesh.India Senior Womenai??i??s National Team swept aside their neighbors , Bangladesh 5-1 in a Group A tie of the 3rd SAFF Women’s Championship in Islamabad, Pakistan on Saturday (November 15, 2014).Striker Bala Devi was on target twice with Upamati Devi, Mandakini Devi, and Indumathi also getting on the scores heet. Just when it looked like the girls in green had done enough to thwart India in the first 45 minutes, left back Upamati broke the deadlock in first-half added time when she raced some 30 yards before playing one-two with Bembem Devi and finding the back of the net with ease from close range.Any signs of a Bangladesh comeback were buried after the restart as the twice SAFF champions turned on the heat netting four times before the final whistle.
Halftime substitute Mandakini Devi came off the bench to score after four minutes, tucking in from a Prameshwori Devi low cross from the left flank.Ai??Bala was then brought down inside the area and she converted from the spot with aplomb to make it 3-0 in the 57th minute.Right winger Indumathi piled more misery on Bangladesh in the 76th minute, skipping past the last defender and sending her shot diagonally into the far corner for Indiaai??i??s fourth.Ai??With the match three minutes from full time, Bala put the finishing touches on the marauding victory by netting in clinical fashion following a swift shimmy into the area. In between her strike, Bangladesh got late a consolation in the 85th minute .
India thrashed Afghanistan by 12-0 and sealed semi-final place in 3rd SAFF Women Championships.Striker Bala Devi extended her purple patch scoring another five goals for her country, (4ai??i??, 12ai??i??, 33ai??i??, 38ai??i?? 83ai??i??) while attackers Prameshwori (28ai??i??, 47ai??i??, 68ai??i??)and Indumathi Devi (3ai??i??, 6ai??i??, 51ai??i??) notched up hattricks either side of halftime. Mandakini Devi joined the party late with a strike in the 88th minute to complete the rout.
India took on Sri-Lanka in the Semi-Finals and they demolished the Sri-Lankan National team 5-0 .Indumati Devi (23′, 69′), Ngangom Bala Devi (31′) ,Prameshowri Devi (48′) and Yumnam Kamala Devi (72) were the scorers as the Indian Team made their way to the Final’s of the 2014 SAFF Women’s Championships.In the other Semi-Finals , Nepal defeated Bangladesh 1-0 , courtesy a Sajana Rana goal in the 56th Minute from the spot.
The last 2 editions have also seen India and Nepal clash in the Final , with India triumphing both times.This time the result wasn’t any different , with India Coming out 6-0 winners. Bala Devi scored four goals (39th minute, 40th, 51st 90+2) to take her tally to 16 — the highest in a single edition of the championship. Kamala Devi (25th) and Prameshwori Devi (47th) were the other goal scorers.
Top Scorer Bala Devi , Who had set a target of scoring 16 goals in this tournament achieved her mission by scoring 4 goals in the final .Bala Devi said afterwards ,
