Radamel Falcao suffered a serious knee injury during Monacoai??i??s French Cup tie against Chasselay after having put the visitors ahead in the first half. The Columbian striker had to be carried off from the ground and early reports suggest that the striker might miss the World Cup in Brazil.
Putting Monaco ahead in the 29th minute, Radamel Falcao was left in excruciating pain following a heavy tackle from Chasselayai??i??s Soner Ertek in the penalty box. The 27 year old Columbian striker was on the brink of taking a shot when Soner Ertek came charging in and caught the striker on his left knee. Receiving medical attention, the striker had to eventually be carried off from the pitch and was taken for further tests. Though the final reports have not been released, reports suggest that Falcao might miss the upcoming World Cup due to the incident.
Though Monaco released a statement saying that Falcao was hit in the left knee and is now awaiting ai???further tests in the coming days to clarify the nature of the injury.’ Coach Caludio Ranieri was left fuming at the referee for not protecting his players. Moreover, Ertekai??i??s challenge went unpunished as the player escaped a booking after the referee denied to point to the spot. In his post-match conference, Ranieri explained that though he was satisfied with the match result, the refereeai??i??s performance left a lot to be desired.
