Arsenal are reportedly plotting atAi??A?7million move for Chelsea’s Petr Cech. Arsenal gaffer Arsene Wenger has been alerted by the news that Jose Mourinho will not prevent Cech, from joining any Premier League rival.
Petr Cech has been one of the standout performers in the Chelsea side ever since he joined the London based club way back in 2004, but since Jose Mourinho made his second coming, Cech has been sidelined to the benches and has been successfully replaced by Thiabut Courtois.
Petr Cech has made more than three hundred appearances for Chelsea and was the standout performer in Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League win. Cech saved Bayern Munich’s Schweinsteiger’s penalty to hand out the Blues their first Champions League win.
Chelsea have so far used Cech as a substitute goalkeeper and the 32 yer old made his season debut against a lowly Bolton Wanderers side in the third round of league cup. Meanwhile, Thiabut Courtois has expressed his desire to learn from the veteran, but has also showcased a soft spot for the sidelined Czech.
‘As a goalkeeper you want to play,’ Courtois toldAi??Sky Sports.
‘If I was in that situation where I didn’t play a lot, then I would leave too.’Ai??
‘I think Petr is still a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and one of the best there is.’
Given that Courtois has successfully replaced Petr Cech, Chelsea will be more than willing to sell Cech. If Cech is sold, Chelsea would be looking to promote a youth keeper into their first team.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will be looking to solidify their goalkeeping department with the signing of Petr Cech. Arsenal already haveAi??Wojciech SzczAi??snyAi??and David Ospina, but none matches the quality and talent provided by 32 year old Petr Cech.
As Arsenal are already reeling in the Premier League, Cech could prove a vital and safe buy for the club. Szczesny, has been decent so far but the Danish International has already displayed signs of complacency.
For a transfer fee of aroundAi??A?7million , Arsenal could concluded this deal quiet easily. And given the pedigree Petr Cech comes with,Ai??A?7million would be a bargain for the gunners.
