After winning 3-0 away at Southampton, Manuel Pellegrini has expressed his ambitions to fight Chelsea for the Premier League title. Although the Saints proved handful for Manchester City, the Sky Blue completed a 3-0 mauling of Ronald Koeman’s team in the second half. With Chelsea dropping points in the week, Manchester City move onto second and are still six points adrift of Chelsea. However, Manuel Pellegrini believes that the Premier League is far from over and anything could happen given the highly volatile nature of this league.

Still Pellegrini was all happy, as Manchester City routed Southampton. The Chilean expressed his joy and said “ai???I am very pleased with this result because we beat a very strong team. They were second in the table before today and deserved to be in that position. They have defended very well all season, so to have beaten them 3-0 was very impressive. They created just one chance in the whole 90 minutes and another clean sheet is important for the trust in our team. Scoring three times against the best defence in the division is also important.”
Manchester City with this win leapfrog Southampton into second place with twenty seven points. City play Sunderland midweek and would be looking to bag all three points at the Stadium of Light.
