Chelsea FC manager Jose Mourinho has hoped that Eden Hazard earns recognition from the Premier League for his wonderful performances.
The home side started the match brightly and created few good chances in the first half. Yannich Sagbo failed to hit the target from close range after a mistake from John Terry handed over the ball to Hull in a dangerous area. Chelsea produced a largely subdued performance in the first half and 0-0 score-line reflected that. But the Blues came out with a lot more intent in the second half and Eden Hazard, who looked the most likely to do something magical on the pitch, provided them the lead. It was the Belgium internationalai??i??s ninth goal in the Premier League and his third in the last four matches.
Hazard was set up by a quick interplay between Luiz and Cole down the left, but when the 23-year-old received the ball at the edge of the box, he still had a lot to do. He drifted on to his right foot and skipped past on rushing defenders before burying the ball in the far post with an impeccably placed shot. The London club doubled their lead at the end as Fernando Torres scored another from a quick break away. It was a classic Fernando Torres goal as he took on the defender and charged past him and slotted the ball home with a crisp finish with his left foot.
Jose Mourinho was full of praise for Eden Hazard as he produced another wonderful performance and insisted that the Belgium international has now matured as a player. He also hoped that Hazard finally receives a bit of recognition from the Premier League and wins the ai???player of the monthai??? award.
“The club made a big investment on him…to bring a player from France and pay the amount Chelsea did is because Chelsea trusted the player a lot,” said Mourinho.
“But he is not a talented kid any more. He is now more than that. He is a player who feels and accepts the responsibility, feels and accepts that a team player is more than a talented player and he has done it without losing his fantastic ability and fantastic talent.
“The kid is in a very good moment of his career.
“Three consecutive times he is man of the match, which is something nice. Let’s see if the Barclays Premier League decides to give him player of the month.
“Maybe they don’t like to go to Cobham because the kid is waiting but the trophy is not arriving.” ai??i?? The Chelsea manager said.
He was also delighted with the performance of his side and how they maintained tactical discipline and controlled the game in the second half.
“It was another good performance – very stable, very calm. In the first half they controlled us very well and defended well. They changed their system to adapt to us: they pressed a lot, they were compact, so we couldn’t create a lot of chances, but we didn’t open up too much or get frustrated.
“We never lost our balance, we kept our shape tactically, and we didn’t give them opportunities to score. In the second half when we had a little bit more of the ball we intensified the game and recovered the ball higher, so I think normally the tendency would be for a goal.
“After that goal I was happy because we were in control, we didn’t go to defend. We controlled the game well, and I think the second goal for us was more likely than a goal for them, and when we scored the second goal it was game over.” ai??i?? Mourinho added.
Mourinho refused too much emphasis on the fact that they are leading the table once again and insisted that the overall development and improvement of the side is more important as of now.
“It’s important because it helps the players to be better and stronger and to grow up faster. To play under pressure, when you’re near the top of the league like we are, is good.
“All the players are stable in their performances, the younger players are improving a lot and the team is getting better, so that’s a consequence of the work everyone is doing.
“Do we like to be leaders? Yes, we like, but maybe tomorrow we are second and maybe Monday we are third. The important thing is that we all know we are going in the right direction.” ai??i?? He said.
