Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has already edged Manchester City and Arsenal, as ‘the special one’ has asked Chelsea to initiate talks with Marco Reus’s agent.
Reus reportedly has a buy out clause ofAi??A?20million that become active next summer. According to reports, Mourinho has asked Chelsea officials to contact Reus’s agent in hope of opening talks.
Although any club can activate Reus’s release clause next summer, there are rumors of Borussian Dortmund trying to create and launch an auction for the services of the German International, in January.
Chelsea seems to edge other possible contenders like Man City, Arsenal and even Real Madrid, as outcast Andre Schurrle could be used to lure and pose as a makeshift in Reus’s deal.
The 25 year old German International is known for his pace, skill, trickery and finesse and although he operates as an attacking midfielder, Reus can also ply his trade on either side of the wing.
After impressing with Borussia M’gladbach, Reus moved to another Borussia, Borussia Dortmund. Since than Reus has been a livewire for the team and has constructed an impeccable attacking pedigree, which is attached to his name.
Meanwhile, Chelsea who already have a penchant for signing talent – distant and afar, could acquire another ‘gem’ of a player, whilst transferring Andre Schurrle to Dortmund.
Although the league leaders sit comfortably with 29 points and are favorites to win the Premier League, Chelsea would want to solidify their attacking options, whilst buying quality.
If Chelsea sign Marco Reus, than the attacking trio of Eden Hazard, Oscar and Marco Reus, deployed behind Diego Cotsa could arguably become one of Europe’s most terrifying attacking contingents.
Man City are another suitors, who could gun for Reus’s signature as their ailing team could benefit with the inclusion of a live wire. Man City have been disappointing in their performances so far, and the Citizens were held by lowly Queens Park Rangers 2-2 before the International break.
However Man City sit third in the Premier League, their contingent has been regularly plagued by defensive lapses and lack of attacking options. With the inclusion of Reus, City would look to re-energise themselves while relying on Reus’s cutting edge.
Arsenal are the most unlikely of suitors, as the clubs has regularly failed to sign targets they have acquired – which are also shared by corresponding Premier League clubs.
