Manchester City visit Liverpool tomorrow in a tie heavily dubbed as this season’s title decider as the winner of this match would get a massive boost of winning the whole competition.
Manchester City’s manager Manuel Pellegrini addressed the media before the important clash and said that the winner of the match could go on to win the league, but the fixture was not a title decider. He said:
“I don’t think it will decide the title. Of course the team that wins this game has more of a chance to win the title but if you think this is the finish of the Premier League, I think it is a mistake,” Pellegrini saidAi??
“Every game is a big game now until the end of the season. The biggest game is every week for me. It’s important but if we beat Liverpool and lose against Sunderland and West Brom we are not going to win the title.
The two most attacking teams take on each other at Anfield and have an incredible 174 goals between them Liverpool 90 and City 84.
Pellegrini was asked if his side were wary of Liverpool’s upfront pairing of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, who have been hailed as the league’s best strike partnership.Ai??Pellegrini responded by saying that Liverpool will be just as concerned about his potential pairing of Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko.
“It’s exactly the concern Liverpool will have against our team, if they want to be an attacking team – and they are an attacking team,” he said.
Pellegrini went on to praise his side’s defensive capabilities. He said that if City are in the title contention at the moment, it is also because they know how to defend well.
“But I think we’ve done very well (defensively), Southampton didn’t have many chances to score. There is a team with 11 players and the 11 players must know how to defend and the 11 players must know how to attack.
“Of course if you defend with 10 players near your box, you are not going to have space for the other team. But the most important thing about these two teams is they play attractive, offensive football. Both teams are very close for this.
“Both teams have scored a lot of goals during the season but if we are with Liverpool and Chelsea at the top of the table, it is because we also know how to defend.”
Pellegrini also said earlier, that at the moment, all clubs fighting for the title are feeling the same kind of pressure to win the tournament. The City bossAi??also said that he admires Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger for saying that his side were fighting for the title:
“I don’t try to take advantage and say we don’t have any pressure because we play away or they are the best team – they (Liverpool) are top of the table. That’s why I have so much respect for Arsene Wenger saying Arsenal can do it.Ai??Afterwards, if they can’t do it, then it’s another problem, but if you are at an important club you can’t say, ‘We don’t have pressure to win a title, the other clubs have it all”, said the Chilean

City would be delighted with the fact that their talismanic striker Sergio Aguero would come back after missing five games with a hamstring problem.
“I think for the team, for the player, it is always better not to be injured. We manage so all the players can get to the end of the season in a good shape, but I think for every player it is not good to stop playing for about two months.
