Manchester United to move for Ajax wonderkid in the summer

Reports in various European news papers including De Telegraph and Daily Mail have confirmed today that David Moyes is looking to fill a void which will be created by Vidicai??i??s departure by luring the youngster to Old Trafford.

JoAi??l Veltman began his football career in the youth teams of VV IJmuiden in his home town ofAi??Velsen, before moving toAi??AFC Ajaxin 2001, where he went through the youth ranks of the club. While playing for the Ajax A1 youth squad in 2011ai??i??12, Veltman helped his side to win the Nike Eredivisie league title,Ai??as well finishing as runners-up toAi??Inter MilanAi??in theAi??NextGen SeriesAi??(theChampions LeagueAi??equivalent for under-20 teams) after losing on penalties (5ai??i??3) following a 1ai??i??1 deadlock after extra time.Ai??He made his official debut for the Ajax first team on August 19, 2012, in the away match againstAi??N.E.C.Ai??inAi??Nijmegen, coming on as a substitute forAi??Mitchell Dijks.

Ajaxai??i??s 22 year-old centre-back Joel Veltman is also developing into one of the best young defenders on the continent, and is attracting lot of interest from other European big guns as well. Veltman, in addition to being a very competent outright defender, is very good with the ball at his feet, is far more offensively-minded than a traditional centre-back, and has an expansive passing range which is incredibly valuable. Ajax are top of Eredevise and Veltman has comfortably been their best player this season and, with some of the talent in Frank de Boerai??i??s squad, that is quite an achievement.

With their third-place finish in the Champions League, Ajax have been relegated into the Europa League knockout stages this season, and it will worth watching Veltman when the competition restarts next month.

However, it would be interesting to see if Ajax are ready to sell their prized asset as almost all Premier League top guns including United, Arsenal, City and Chelsea are interested in him. Meanwhile, Marc Overmars has warned the Premier League’s big guns to keep their hands off Ajax wonderboy Joel Veltman.

Manchester City, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all sent scouts to watch the 22-year-old central defender in a Dutch league game against Groningen last Thursday.

Veltman has three years of his contract remaining and is on less than A?10,000 a-week. He could earn five times as much in the Premier League so Ajax have offered him a new deal with a massive pay rise.
