Manchester United want Paris Saint Germain’s Adrien Rabiot for next season, indicate reports.
The 19 year old has been a subject of interest from numerous clubs including Arsenal, Juventus and Monaco. The midfielder had also been linked to Liverpool in the January transfer window .Ai??Just last month, it was reported that Ai??Arsene Wenger sent scout Gilles Grimandi to track the youngster regularly this season.
Ai??The French midfielder has represented his nation on all youth levels and aged 18, made was called up to the France U-21 side. He was snapped up by Manchester City in 2008 and became part of their youth academy. However, he failed to form a strong impression and in 2010, was taken in by PSG.
The Frenchman’s is naturally a defensive midfielder capable of being employed a little ahead. He basically occupies the deep lying playmaker spot in the team. He also possesses considerable attacking flair and has hence been employed as a central midfielder on occasions. The 19 year old is a shrewd passer of the ball and possesses a great vision as his eloquent through balls clearly illustrate that. He likes to play short passes and almost always manages to find a teammate at the end of it as he boasts an impressive passing accuracy of 90%, in league matches.
He is clearly not exactly down the pecking orders at Laurent Blanc’s side as despite being just 19 and with Yohan Cabaye, Blaise Matuidi, Marco Verratti and Thiago Motta at the heart of PSGai??i??s midfield, he managed 25 appearances in the league this season. However, 13 of those were from the bench.
Rabiot has a year left on his contract and has refused to renew it. He reportedly earns A?5,000-a-week, but wants a significant pay rise and regular game time. Rabiot had been offered anAi??ai??i??80,000-a-week contract extension to commit his future to PSG, this offer being on the table since August 2013. But the player had not signed it which indicates that the pay rise is not the bigger concern for him.Ai??The arrival of Yohan Cabaye and the possibility of another centre midfielder coming in the summer has made him sceptical of his chances and he is now looking for life outside the French capital.
It is now being reported that Manchester United are interested in bringing the young man to England. The Red Devils finished the season in seventh spot, 22 points behind Champions Manchester City and Louis van Gaal is set to make a lot of changes to the United squad in the summer which would mean a good number of arrivals along with a number of players departing the club. United are also targeting Kevin Strootman, Jordy Clasie and Thomas Muller.
However, even at United, it is not certain that the 19 year will get as much game time as he desires, at least in the starting. But if the midfielder wants to definitely move out of PSG and is looking for a new adventure, Manchester United seems like the perfect destination. He would be helping the club improve drastically from their miserable last season, and good performances at the club could also get him a call up to the senior France squad.
