Manchester United manager David Moyes claims that the Red Devils must win the clash against Manchester City for the fans who have stood faithfully by the clubai??i??s side.
Speaking ahead of the all-important Manchester derby, Moyes showed his appreciation for the United fans who have stood by the club during a painful transitory season.
“I’ve said many times how well the supporters have reacted to what has been a difficult season. They have been great and the atmosphere has been great inside Old Trafford.”
The manager accepted that his team has been very disappointing this season while the fans did their part by continuously supporting the team. He believes that United have the means to win the derby and should do so as a tribute to its fans.
“They have played their part in helping the team. We’ve not always done our side of it, but recently we have, and the supporters have responded to that as well.”
“We go out to win every game, not just the derby game, but obviously it means a lot more to supporters and it means a lot in the city, if we win.ai???

The United manager believes that Manchester United have the will to fight and will be able to win against City on the back of their last two victories. United turned over a 2-0 defecit to win the tie against Olympiakos and then won against West Ham despite losing Van Persie to an injury.
David Moyes has faith in his squad and said that it was not surprising that the players stepped up at a crucial juncture in their season and got United through in the past couple of games.
“It will be important for us to show the level of what we have got. I think we have got the level, that we are not as far away as many people would have us, and I have no doubt it will improve. We want to show we are still in there fighting.”
“I think, the last couple of games, a lot of the players have really stepped up and performed, but I’m not surprised by that at all.Ai??I think that’s what they are capable of and I’ve been saying that all year. I’ve been saying we have got a good squad, we have got good players.Ai??We maybe haven’t played as well as we should have but I do think we have got those capabilities in the squad.”
The manager also heaped praises on Wayne Rooney who led the team on Saturday and scored a brilliant opener to earn United 3 crucial points. The Englishman scored a spectacular volley from near the half-line and then doubled his tally shortly afterwards to make sure United earned three points at Upton Park.
“His form throughout the season has been very good, and his goal capped off what everyone is aware he is capable of.Ai??He is talked about a lot because of the ability he has got as a footballer and he showed on Saturday he is capable of doing something that maybe not every player is capable of.
“More important for me is how well he has played for the team. From day one, he has been a great team player.”
It will be interesting to see how David Moyes prepares for a visit from city-rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford. Though United seem to be getting back to their winning ways, playing Olympiakos and West Ham is no preparation for a match against City. The Blues hammered the Reds at the Etihad Stadium earlier this season and enter Tuesday’s fixture as the firm favourites to earn three points.
