Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stressed on the importance of winning the Community Shield against Arsenal FC.
Community Shield is often seen as a glorified friendly, but it does mark the beginning of the English season. Arsenal, last seasonai??i??s FA Cup winner, will face Manchester City, the reigning Premier League champions, at Wembley tomorrow as both the clubs look to test their sharpness ahead of the new season.
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has stressed on the importance of this game and has refused to label it just a friendly. The former Real Madrid manager insisted that although both the teams will be missing some key players, this match provides them with an opportunity to start the season on a positive note.
“Of course it is not a friendly match. It is an important game against an important team in Arsenal.
“Maybe both teams, Arsenal and our team, do not arrive in our best moment because both have a lot of players who have just arrived from the World Cup but I think it will be a very good game and important for both teams to win it.
“For this year, our target is exactly the same as last year. We will try to play the four competitions we must play, we try to continue in all competitions as far as we can. Exactly the same as last year.
