Manchester United are edging closer to signing Marcos Rojo from Sporting Lisbon after the player is said to be pushing for a move to the Premier League giants.
Reports in Portugal also suggested that Rojo had refused to train on Tuesday to force his transfer through. He has supposedly informed last seasonai??i??s Portuguese league runners up that he will no longer train with them until the situation is resolved to his satisfaction.

Rojo boosted his reputation on the world stage after an impressive campaign with Argentina.
Rojo is a left-sided defender who can operate at centre-back. He possesses considerable pace and brings a lot of attacking threat in the game by regularly moving up front from the left flank. He is young, at 24, and already has a lot of experience at the domestic and international level. He was named in the World Cup Team of the Tournament, and played all 120 minutes of the final. He is suited to be a Van Gaal type of player as the Dutchman would deploy him at wingback in his proposed 3-5-2 system or in the centre of defence.
Liverpool and Southampton have also been linked with the player as both clubs need to fill the spot this summer. Southampton were the side tipped to land the Argentinean after links of the three parties edging closer to an agreement started doing rounds. Ronald Koeman has to replace Luke Shaw, who left for Manchester United this summer, and has been looking for a defender capable of filling his void. Rojo is versatile enough and can operate as a centre back, hence he was identified as an essential buy for Saints, since they lost three men from their back-line this summer- Luke Shaw, Dejan Lovren and Calum Chambers.
