Federico Macheda completes his move from Manchester United to Cardiff City on a three-year deal.
22-year-old arrived at Old Trafford with a lot of promise from Lazio, but after spending seven years at the club he failed to fulfil those promises. Macheda was promoted to the first team in 2008 and his best moment in an United shirt arrived when he scored that memorable winner against Aston Villa. But he failed to establish himself in the first team and had loan spells at lot of clubs including Sampdoria, Stuttgart and QPR.
Last season he was sent on loan to Doncaster Rovers, before joining Birmingham City in January. His current contract with Manchester United expires at the end of next month and the club decided against offering him a new contract, despite being finishing the season as Birminghamai??i??s top league goal-scorer.
Cardiff City, who were relegated from the Premier League, have now reached an agreement to sign Federico Macheda as former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen the squad in the summer. Macheda became their third signing of this summer, and looks to be a direct replacement for Craig Bellamy, who retired from football earlier this month.
