Liverpool FC are set to open talks with skipper Steven Gerrard over a contract extension
Steven Gerrard yesterday said that he could leave Anfield next summer if he wasn’t offered a new contract as he wasn’t looking to retire just yet.
“I’m only contracted until May. As it stands, I’m here until the end of the season and want to make the most of it,” said Gerrard, who is closing in on 700 appearances for his boyhood club,” said the 34 year old

These comments made by Liverpool’s talismanic captain genuinely shook up the fans who will not be able to see Gerrard donning different colors.
However, Liverpool ECHO now have stated thatAi??Liverpool are determined to ensure that that doesn’t happen and will offer Gerrard a 12-month extension to cover the 2015/16 campaign.

It would be interesting to see if Gerrard is willing to reduce his role next season, but the chances of that happening are there. Gerrard has always been extremely professional all his career and has gone on record several times in the last two-three years saying he is okay with being used however the manager wants to use him.
The ex-England captain is currently invaluable to Rodgers’ plans and has played every single minute of the Premier League and the Champions League this season. Even though the player hasn’t had the best season so far, much like his club overall, he still remains an integral part of the squad.
