Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has expressed his desire to join Liverpool FC in the summer.
Ogenyi Onazi has made tremendous progress since being promoted to the Lazio first team last season. Nigerian international has made 28 appearances in Serie A this season and his performances have drawn a lot of interest from clubs across Europe. Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City have monitored his progress at Lazio, along with Liverpool, but the Merseyside club are considered as the favourites to sign him in the summer.
Ogenyi Onazi has mostly been used as a defensive midfielder, but he has an all-round game. The 21-year-old would fit into the Liverpool midfielder perfectly and will provide Brendan Rodgers with a wonderful option in the squad. The English club are expected strengthen their squad in the summer as they prepare to participate in the Champions League and the midfield requires a lot of addition. Liverpool donai??i??t have a replacement in the squad for Steven Gerrard or Lucas Leiva, someone who can provide the defence with some cover. Onazi will certainly provide Rodgers with more option in that department.
Ogenyi Onazi has now expressed his delight at being linked with a club like Liverpool and has insisted that he would ai???jumpai??i?? at the opportunity to play for them.
“Liverpool? They are a huge team and are attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them. I would jump at the chance” ai??i?? The Lazio midfielder said.
Onaziai??i??s current contract with the Italian club expires in 2016 and Lazio wonai??i??t let him go cheaply. But Lazio have struggled in the league this season and will themselves be looking for new signings in the summer. Offloading Onazi will help them in increasing their transfer budget and with Tottenham and Manchester City providing competition for Liverpool, they are in a position to get the best out of this deal. Lazio do have a lot of options in the midfield already present in the squad who can replace Onazi, but they are unlikely to let him go for anything less than ai??i??12 million.
