Liverpool disappointingly drew 2-2 against Arsenal on Sunday. The result would have come as a disappointment for the players because Liverpool’s performance was certainly deserving of three points. However, sloppy defending (as per usual) and failure to convert cost them two points. Despite the dropped points, this was Liverpool’s best performance since their victory over Spurs back in September.
Brendan Rodgers has shifted to a 3-4-2-1 system with Raheem Sterling operating as a false nine and Coutinho and Lallana doing the work behind him. The Reds have used this formation three times in the last week, and their performances have improved drastically. Before, they were unable to create chances, but with this new formation, they have almost been as threatening as last season in attack. The only problem now is the lack of a natural goalscorer. However, things finally seem to be moving the right direction for Liverpool.
Adam Lallana had a quality game against Arsenal as he started for Liverpool in three successive matches for the first time since his move from Southampton in the summer. He had a quality game as he created five goalscoring chances, grabbed an assist (it was his corner which Martin Skrtel latched on to in the 97th minute of the game), won 4 tackles, completed 2 take ons and had 3 shots at goal. The 26 year old has said that Rogers’ new found system of 3-4-2-1 is working for the Reds and particularly for him.

Even though the draw was not a fair reflection of how the game panned out and the Liverpool players were disappointed since they were so dominant throughout, Lallana is happy with the way the team is performing and said that if they keep the performances going like they have in the last one week, they would be picking three points every time.
