Kroos, Fabregas And Other Bargain Deals This Summer

Every transfer window sees a world-class player or two being sold to a top club. The clubs doing the buying have to stretch their transfer budgets in order to lure a desired player. This transfer window was no different, with the likes of James Rodriguez, Suarez, Di Maria, Shaw, Luiz and others being sold for monumental transfer fees. Apart from these signings there were some other players who went for fairly low prices considering their skills and abilities.

Here is a list of 5 deals that were an absolute bargain this summer.

Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas took the world by storm during his time at Arsenal. His return to boyhood club Barcelona may have been a dream come true for the Spaniard but the ending was rather unceremonious. After spending 3 years at Barca, Fabregas realised that this was not what his football career needed. At 27 years of age, with a lot of football still left in him, Barcelona were unable to satisfy Fabregas and often played him out of position and rarely trusted the former gunner. When Fabregas made the decision to join Chelsea it came in as a shock and even offended some Arsenal fans. But Wenger having refused the opportunity to re-sign the midfielder, it was Chelsea who came knocking at his door with a chance to revive his career. Unwanted by Arsenal and not seeing himself at Barcelona, Fabregas seized the opportunity to sign with a grateful Blues side that was still getting over Lampard.

Kroos

After winning almost everything he could have in Germany with Bayern Munich, Toni Kroos decided not to renew his contract after the Bavarians failed to meet his expectations. With just a year left on his contract, Bayern Munich were keen to sell the German midfielder. Champions League winners Real Madrid came knocking at the door and offered to prise away the versatile youngster. After Kroos had a successful World Cup winning it for Germany and also being the top provider of assists in the tournament, Real Madrid got their priorities straight and made Kroos the first signing of the new season. At 24 years of age, Kroos still has a lot of untapped talent in him and seems to be a promising prospect for the future. Real Madrid only had to cough up ai??i??30 million to acquire the service of a young, versatile and a world-class midfielder.

LewandowskiAi??

Lewandowski attracted a lot of attention when he famously scored 4 goals against a Jose Mourinho-managed Real Madrid in 2013. His 4 goals basically assured Dortmund a spot in the finals only for them to lose against Bayern Munich. Lewandowski was linked to various clubs in the following transfer window with Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid being some of them. However, the rumours of the striker joining Bayern Munich were the strongest. With only a year left on his contract Lewandowski refused to renew with Dortmund and played out his entire contract only to secure his dream move to Bayern Munich without the Bavarians having to pay a single penny for his services. How often do we hear of a 26-year old Bundesliga top-scorer joining a title rival for absolutely nothing?

Mandzukic

With the arrival of Lewandowski, Mandzukic, once an undisputed first choice at Bayern Munich was bound to be sidelined. The Croatian had already proved his worth at the competitive stage and he wasnai??i??t comfortable with the idea of playing second fiddle to Lewandowski. Atletico Madrid came knocking at his door as they were on the lookout for a number 9 after the departure of Diego Costa to Chelsea. At 28 years of age, the striker is at his peak and has the ability to score around 20 goals each season at least for 2 or 3 more years. For ai??i??22 million, a player of his caliber is a steal.

Liverpool sold their most prolific and impactful player, Luis Suarez to Barcelona for a huge fee of ai??i??94 million. It seemed like the transfer window will end with Liverpool having spent a lot of money but still failed to bring on an apt replacement for Suarez.
