With the January transfer window just a couple of months away, it seems the top EPL clubs have already started doing their business in a bid to strengthen their squad before the second half of the season.
The big news coming out of Spain is Barcelona defender Gerard Piqueai??i??s big-money move to Chelsea. The Spaniard is said to be disillusioned with life under Luis Enrique, and could be tempted by a move to pastures green.
Spanish website FichajesAi?? reports that Jose Mourinho is looking for a long-term replacement for 33-year-old captain John Terry, and is willing to offer a mouth-watering A?24 million to Barcelona for the services of Gerard Pique.
The managerai??i??s preference for new signing Jeremy Mathieu has led to Pique starting only 6 matches this season, with a further appearance from the bench. An ever-present figure under Pep Guardiola, Tito Vilanova and Gerardo Martino, Pique is reportedly upset with the new regime at Camp Nou.
A move back to the EPL could freshen things up for the Spaniard, who has won everything there is to be won at club and international level. With Cesc Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez proving that there is life beyond Barcelona, Pique could be tempted to follow suit.
A signing of Piqueai??i??s stature could make an already-strong Chelsea outfit ever more impregnable, with the Blues currently relying on inexperienced youngsters a back-ups for their first-choice centreback pairing of Cahill and Terry.
Pique has already been strongly linked to Manchester United, with the Red Devils in dire need of a proven performer for their leaky defense. But with Chelsea moving in as well, United will have to wrap up proceedings quickly lest their move be gazumped by the London club.

23-year-old Christoph Kramer is the midfielder in question. The Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder, currently on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, has been strongly linked with EPL sides Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur for a January move.
Kramer was also part of the German squad for the 2014 World Cup and made an appearance in the final after a last-minute injury to Sami Khedira, although he himself was injured in the first half and had to be substituted.
The defensive midfielderai??i??s passing range, physicality and ability to be in the right positions at key moments are attributes cited to have excited the big clubs.
The Express reports Chelsea and Liverpool have already prepared offers in the range of A?14 million to prise their man.
Kramer is also reportedly a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid, but it is believed the player himself is keen on a switch to the Premier League.
